METHOD TO DEVIDE AND MERGE THE FILE USING FILE ALLOCATION TABLE

A method for dividing and merging a file by using a file allocation table is provided to prevent time delay due to file copy and prevent lifetime of a NAND flash from being shorten. A controller checks a cluster read the first time among clusters in which data to be divided exist to divide a file A(S510). The controller copies data to be separated from the checked cluster(S520). The controller stores copied data in a newly allocated cluster(S530). The controller deletes the copied data from the originally existing cluster(S540). The controller regenerates the file A by adding dummy to an area where data is deleted from a previous cluster(S550). The controller fills dummy in an area except the copied data in the newly allocated cluster(S560). The controller generates a file B by linking the newly allocated cluster with a cluster read after the previous cluster through an FAT(S570).
