The device has a spreading assembly (3) including supplying units to bring a material e.g. farm manure, from a case (10) to projection units i.e. circular plates, which spread the material on soil. The supplying units have a chain conveyor (31) with a vertical active surface oriented towards interior of the case. Scraping units of the conveyor seize and shred the material, and are driven in translation from top to bottom of the surface to bring the seized and shredded material to the projection units. The scraping units have cutting rods with a longitudinal edge forming a scraper blade.
