<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing barley syrup made of barley by which the viscosity of obtained syrup is made sufficiently low, and to provide a food product and culture media containing the barley syrup obtained by the method. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing barley syrup includes a decomposition step of decomposing barley or its crushed material at 20-65 °C in the presence of α-amylase.
