PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for identifying whether or not a lycopeneβ-cyclase gene of a tomato is a wild type or an ogc variant type. SOLUTION: The method performs a gene amplification by using a primer set for distinguishing whether or not at least one lycopeneβ-cyclase gene selected from oligonucleotides containing a specific base sequence and the other oligonucleotides containing having a specific base sequence different from the oligonucleotides, is the wild type or ogc variant type.
