PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a buffer device for a starter for providing a longer life by enlarging a contact area of a rotation side member and a fixing side member. SOLUTION: In the buffer device K, a base member 16a of a center case 16 is provided with a plurality of projecting parts 16e at a base end outer circumference of an inside cylinder part 16b and, as a fixed disk 21 is provided with a plurality of incisions 21b engageable with the plurality of projecting parts 16e of the base member 16a at an inner circumference part 21a, irrotational device is obtained by inserting the inside cylinder part 16b to the inner circumference part 21a of the fixed disk 21 and engaging the respective incisions 21b with the respective projecting parts 16e. As the fixed disk 21 is engaged near an outer circumference of the inside cylinder part 16b of the base member 16a, a contact surface with both the members can be secured to be large to an inner circumferential side and thus it is possible to provide longer life.
