The method involves separating a tape of a graphical data storage medium and a service data carrying location slip, where the tape is packaged in a cassette (3), and unrolled in the cassette for reading. The tape and the strip are read separately, and the tape and the strip are re-associated. The strip is introduced in a cover of the cassette, and two sides of the strip are read successively after returning the cover. The strip is read through the cover. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an automaton for automatically reading a graphical data (2) a cassette for packing a tape.
