The invention is a Hybrid Power Supply (HPS) unit which replaces the existing unit by which street lighting is governed. The HPS receives a request from lamp post photocell, checks the battery power, and if it is sufficient then switches to solar primary feed. The unit provides and regulates power to LEDs in the street lamp, and if battery levels fall too low, a Multilayered Processing Unit (MPU), which monitors the system, will automatically switch to its secondary AC mains supply. This procedure is instantaneous and ensures that the street light remains lit during the changeover. The HPS can be easily situated at the base of existing street lights for easy maintenance or replacement. |
