The direct current converter has a free wheeling diode (D1) provided at an input of an inductor (L) and connected with an earth (GND). Another free wheeling diode (D2) provided at an output of the inductor is connected with an output capacitor (C1). A switch (T1) is provided between the output of the inductor and the earth, where the switch is switchable with a switch signal (US). The switch signal is synchronized with current pulses (PWM) that are released by a switch regulator (SR), where a circuit breaker (T2) suppresses the switch signal.
