The method for plain dyeing of leather, comprises ground dyeing a tanned leather with a primary colors securing chemically on the leather, applying a water-soluble coloring material on the leather by an intermediate carrier to dress the treated leather for equalizing the color, and then applying an aqueous dispersion of self cross-linking polymer as a protective layer. The coloring material binds with the primary colors during the application of the carrier. A pickling material is applied for dressing the leather and then the coloring material is applied after drying and hardening time. The method for plain dyeing of leather, comprises ground dyeing a tanned leather with a primary colors securing chemically on the leather, applying a water-soluble coloring material on the leather by an intermediate carrier to dress the treated leather for equalizing the color, and then applying an aqueous dispersion of self cross-linking polymer as a protective layer. The coloring material binds with the primary colors during the application of the carrier. A pickling material is applied for dressing the treated leather and then the coloring material is applied after drying and hardening time, where the coloring material binds additionally with the pickling material. The primary color penetrates with the coloring in the leather and chemically binds on the leather. The coloring material penetrates into the leather during the application of the intermediate carrier and binds with the primary color and optionally with the pickling material. The coloring material reactively binds itself with existing hydroxyl-groups and is applied by a roller or a flexographic printing using the intermediate carrier, or under pressure and/or temperature treatment by heat transfer from the intermediate carrier. The coloring material is transferred into the gaseous condition and/or in an aerosol by the pressure and/or temperature treatment so that it penetrates into the volume of the leather. A paper or a plastic film is used as intermediate carrier. The coloring material is pickling-, dispersion- or sublimation coloring material. The coloring material and/or pickling material are applied in such a manner that the colored leather contains pH of 7 at the surface. An aqueous dispersion is used as pickling material. An independent claim is included for plain dyed, dressed leather.
