A method for transferring semiconductor devices in test handler and an apparatus thereof are provided to improve safety of a test handler and to reduce weight a picker system by not needing a separate device for controlling X-pitch. A method for transferring semiconductor devices between trays having a plurality of sockets(24) for storing the semiconductor devices comprises the following steps: a step for controlling row direction X-pitch of a buffer tray(20) like row direction X-pitch of a first tray; and a step for transferring the semiconductor devices from the first tray to the buffer tray.
