PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an additive for rubber compositions, which can impart excellent rolling resistance; a rubber composition comprising the additive for rubber compositions; and a tire using the rubber composition as a member. SOLUTION: The additive for rubber compositions is represented by formula (I) (wherein X is a 1-6C alkanediyl group which may have a substituent, an alkenediyl group or a 6-12C arenediyl group which may have a substituent and Y is an ether bond, a sulfide bond, a polysulfide bond, a thioester bond, a thioxoester bond, an imino bond, an amide bond, a sulfoamide bond, a urea bond, a thiourea bond, an alkanediylether bond or an alkanediylamino bond).
