PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently and economically preparing N,N-dimethylcyclohexylamine useful as a catalyst for preparing polyurethane foam, an epoxy curing agent, a resist release agent, and a steel-pipe corrosion inhibitor. SOLUTION: Provided is a method, wherein N,N-dimethylcyclohexylamine is prepared by subjecting crude N,N-dimethylaniline comprising formaldehyde (such as a reaction solution obtained by causing a formaldehyde derivative and aniline to react with each other, in the presence of a reduction catalyst and hydrogen) to a nucleus hydrogenation reaction in the presence of a secondary amine, a reduction catalyst, and hydrogen.
