A method for manufacturing a weather strip is provided to improve sealing ability and external appearance quality by preventing level difference or burr from generating on a joining part of a hollow seal part of the weather strip. A method for manufacturing a weather strip comprises the steps of: setting a weather strip material(13) on a fixing mold(32) to assemble a section of a strip part(16) with a tip of a cutting blade(44) or to allow the section of the strip part to be a predetermined set position; fixing the strip part on a maintaining mold(27) while absorbing outer surface of the strip part on maintaining surfaces(38,39); retracting a section position determining member(46) between opposite surfaces of a pair of maintaining molds; placing a joining sheet material(14) between opposed terminals of the weather strip material maintained the pair of maintaining molds; forming a cutting line on the joining sheet material or cutting the joining sheet material along the outer surface of the strip part with the cutting blade; joining sections of the strip part by heating the joining sheet material; and discharging the weather strip material with the strip part from the maintaining mold by opening the maintaining mold after releasing depression. |
