PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow increase in the number of representable gradations without enlarging a distance between centers of dots. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an image forming system for binarizing gradations of source image data with a parameter in a dither matrix as a threshold. The image forming system includes: a gradation number comparing means for comparing a number N of gradations, that becomes the base of setting a size and a shape from an output resolution, the number of lines of dots and an angle, representable in the dither matrix (sub dither matrix) of L×L pixels (wherein L is a natural number of≥2) with a number P of gradations constituting the source image data; and a dither pattern generating means for generating one dither pattern constituted of pixels corresponding to the size of the dither matrix by forming the dither matrix sized by arraying a plurality of sub dither matrices based on comparison due to the gradation number comparing means, and adding parameter numbers, according to predetermined rules, in order from a square that is the center of the sub dither matrices, or from one of squares closest to the center, and alternately between the sub dither matrices.
