The protection device (1) has an elongated tarpaulin (2) made of synthetic fiber. Retaining devices detachably attaches a frame (3) and/or lower tubes (15, 16) of a bicycle (14). A clamping linen and a cross connector are detachably connected with the frame and/or the bicycle, and fixes the protection device in a mounting position at the bicycle. A wind screen (20) is formed by a window panel above and outside of a handle bar (18) of the bicycle. A roof (21) rearwardly runs from the wind screen at a distance beyond the bicycle. Rods of the frame are made of glass fiber material.
