The pipes 12 of a surface heat exchanger have cleaning bodies 13 moved through them by water flow, each pipe having a cooling body retained therein by perforated stopping devices 14 at their ends and moved to and from by reversal of the direction of flow. The bodies may be brushes, sponge-rubber balls or the like. The stopping devices may be made of a synthetic plastic material. The sleeves 15 of Fig. 2 can slide a short distance 16 towards the pipe, thereby sealing it off and bringing full flow pressure into the brush to move it. |
