PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deodorant, exhibiting very effective deodorizing effect to smell of amines, mercaptans, fatty acid and formalin. SOLUTION: This deodorant is liquid or powder deodorant formed by blending with at least one kind of deodorizing component selected from glyceraldehyde, glyceraldehyde hemiacetal, glyceraldehyde furfural acetal and dihydroxyacetone. It is possible to cope with malodor in a further wide range by blending monovalent, bivalent or trivalent alcohol, further amphoteric surfactant, ionic surfactant or further oxyacid metal salt, keto-carboxylic acid metal salt and glyoxylic acid metal salt.
