PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal alignment agent, from which ionic impurity such as metal ions and amine component is removed, and having superior electrical characteristics, as well as, superior reliability. SOLUTION: According to this method of manufacturing the liquid crystal aligning agent, a solution containing polyamic acid polymer and/or its imidated polymer obtained by reacting a diamine A1 with a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride is processed with a filter material containing ion exchange resin or filter material where zeta potential acts.
