PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program information processing unit and a program information processing method capable of searching programs easily by an electronic program guide and displaying searched results on the electronic program guide clearly. SOLUTION: The program information processing unit has: a display control section for displaying the electronic program guide including information on a plurality of programs; a selection section for selecting one of the plurality of programs according to the operation of a user; and a search section for searching a program having information that coincides with or is similar to at least one portion of information on one program selected by the selection section.
