PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out in-situ gel formation of a pectic substance. SOLUTION: A composition, a method for preparation and a method for use of a pectin in-situ gelling formulation for delivery and sustained release of a physiologically active agent to the body of an animal are provided. The pectin is isolated from Aloe vera. One object is to provide a composition for controlled or sustained release of the physiologically active agent in the body of the animal. Another object is to provide a transparent polymer solution wherein no dramatic increase in gel cloudiness is created beyond certain concentration ranges.
