AN AIR CONDITIONER AND THE SLEEPING DRIVE CONTROL METHOD

An air conditioner and a sleeping mode control method thereof are provided to help a user to sleep tight by controlling set room temperature according to the change in the sleeping area of the user. An air conditioner includes a user detecting unit(30) for scanning an entire air conditioning area by a heat sensor(31) to measure temperature in response to the input for a sleeping mode. An air conditioning control part(52) recognizes the sleeping area of a user based on the measured temperature and determines a change in the sleeping phase according to the change of mean temperature in the area where the user sleeps, so as to change set room temperature.
