An insulated container 10 for storing a liquid, such as vehicle engine long life coolant (LLC), comprises an inner container 20, an interior member 30 and an exterior member 50. The inner container may be formed from resin and is equipped with a liquid flow inlet/outlet 21. The interior and exterior members enclose the inner container and form a gas barrier layer. A heat insulation space 40, in which a heat insulating material 41 is sealed at reduced pressure, is formed between the interior and exterior members. A flange 60 is fitted onto the flow inlet/outlet, where the flange has a lower surface (65, fig.4) bonded to the interior member and an upper surface (63, fig.4) bonded to the exterior member. Preferably, the heat insulation space is a vacuum insulation layer containing a gas adsorbent 42. In use, the insulated container is designed to provide a high performance vacuum heat insulating material, which is formed around a container so as to minimise heat loss. In a further aspect, a method of manufacturing the insulated container is disclosed. |
