<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane electrode assembly with high durability capable of maintaining a gas seal function more soundly by improving durability of adhesion performance and its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: The membrane electrode assembly is provided with a fuel electrode catalyst layer 3 and an oxidant electrode catalyst layer 4 arranged respectively at both side central part of a solid polymer electrolyte membrane 2, a fuel side gas diffusion layer 5 and an oxidant side gas diffusion layer 6 arranged so as to cover the both catalyst layers 3, 4, and outer periphery parts 5a, 6a which are formed at the whole circumference of each gas diffusion layer 5, 6 and filled with a seal material. Both sides of the outer periphery 2a of the solid polymer electrolyte membrane 2 corresponding to the outer periphery parts 5a, 6a of the gas diffusion layer 5, 6 are adhered by a fuel side adhesion member 7 and an oxidant side adhesion member 8, and further, the whole outer periphery fringe 2b of the solid polymer electrolyte membrane 2 is covered by forming an adhesion portion 10 by the both adhesion members 7, 8 at the outside of the outer periphery fringe 2b to form a gas seal part 9. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
