A receiver whose receiving antenna can be installed relatively near an interfering source because the interfering signal mixing into the receiving antenna can be canceled and which has reception performance not degrading even when the received wave intensity is weak. The receiver comprises a combining unit (112) having branches each composed of a receiving antenna (101) and a demodulating section, combining the output signals from the branches, and thus carrying out diversity reception and a signal processing unit (113) for receiving the output signal from the combining unit (112) and carrying out decoding and error correction. The receiver further comprises a detecting antenna (105) provided separately from the receiving antenna (101) and adapted for receiving a wave causing an interference signal, an adjusting unit (108) for receiving the interfering signal received by the detecting antenna (105) and converted, adjusting the gain, delay, and phase of the interfering signal, and outputting the adjusted interfering signal, and a subtracting unit (109) for subtracting the adjusted interfering signal from the received signal of the diversity-reception branch. The output signal from the subtracting unit (109) is inputted into a demodulating unit (111).
