摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an electric short circuit in a gas seal part in the outer peripheral part of a gas diffusion substrate caused by attachment of condensed water in a solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell is formed by stacking two or more unit cells, and each unit cell is equipped with a membrane-electrode assembly having a solid polymer electrolyte membrane, a fuel electrode, and an oxidant electrode; a fuel electrode side separator coming in contact with the fuel electrode and in which a fuel gas supply groove for supplying fuel gas to the fuel electrode is formed; and an oxidant electrode side separator coming in contact with the oxidant electrode and in which an oxidant gas supply groove for supplying oxidant gas to the oxidant electrode is formed. A fuel gas diffusion substrate and an oxidant gas diffusion substrate have gas permeable flat plate-like or sheet-like base materials 1, 2, an impregnated seal part 4 where thermoplastic resin is impregnated in the base materials 1, 2 formed in the vicinity of the periphery of the base materials 1, 2; and a resin edge part 8a surrounding the impregnated seal part 4 and extending into the extension surface of the impregnated seal part 4. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
