Adaptive milking system

A milking method for cows and similar animals using teat-cups attached to the teats of the animal for milk flow to a claw and collection container, involves sensing the milk flow for the individual animal and detaching the teat-cups from the teats in response to a detach threshold being reached when the milk flow falls below the detach threshold. The detach threshold itself is adaptively varied for each individual animal in response to the measurement of the milk flow for that animal. Other milking parameters, such as let-down delay, may also be adaptively varied in response to the measured milk flow for the individual animal.
