A system and method for controlling leakage preventing valve is provided to prevent fuel from escaping to an engine prior to starting of the engine by shutting a leakage shut-off valve in case voltage does not generates. A leakage shut-off valve control method comprises a step of determining the driving of a start motor(S1); a step of opening the leakage shut-off valve(S3); a step of measuring occurrence of an L-terminal voltage of a generator with the leakage shut-off valve open(S4); and a step of maintaining open state of the leakage shut-off valve in case an L-terminal voltage occurs(S5).
