PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connection failure detecting device for a copper bar connection portion, capable of early detecting a connection failure of a connection portion between copper bars without the need for greatly changing the construction. SOLUTION: The copper bar connection portion has the first copper bar 1 and the second copper bar 2 superposed and pressure-bonded using a terminal screw 3 and a nut 4. The second copper bar 2 is insulated from the terminal screw 3, and an insulating ring 7 is laid between the second copper bar 2 and the nut 4 so that the second copper bar 2 arranged on the side of the nut 4 is not conducted to the terminal screw 3 and the nut 4. A resistance element 8 is arranged between the second copper bar 2 and the nut 4, and a connection failure detecting circuit 5 has a built-in photocoupler 15 to be operated on with the voltage drop of the resistance element 8.
