Thinwalled blow moulded containers are produced sing a mould tool which pinches an extension of the top of the parison to seal it about a needle used to inject pressure to distend the parison. Internal pressure at least equivalent to atmospheric pressure is maintained within the parison which an ancillary welding tool then seals off the parison top below the level of the needle, so that the moulding remains pressurised after ejection. The residual internal pressure supports the containers against deformation or collapse during subsequent manual or mechanical handling for inspection/packing/labelling purposed etc. |
