<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate for a liquid crystal display device in which light leakage scarcely occurs. <P>SOLUTION: In the substrate for the liquid crystal display device, which has an optically anisotropic layer having a slow axis in an in-plane direction on a color filter substrate having projecting and recessing level differences, when a maximum value of displacement of the slow axis in an arbitrary region of the optically anisotropic layer with 10 μm diameter is made to be 10° or less, an area observed with a typical polarizing microscope is usually the region with 10 μm diameter, a state is materialized in which no light leakage is observed in the observed area when the slow axis is aligned with the extinction direction, and furthermore no light leakage is observed when the slow axis is rotated by 10° from the extinction direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
