An electrosurgical instrument is provided to comprise a unipolar electrode for cutting tissue and a bipolar electrode for cauterization and reduce the changing cost of an electrode handpiece and improve surgical operation functionality of a doctor. An elective surgery generator(130) provides the high frequency(RF) output. A handpiece(110) using power source provided from the generator is operated as a unipolar mode for cutting tissue and a bipolar mode for cauterization. A foot switch(160) is equipped in order to change the unipolar mode and the bipolar mode of the handpiece. A return pad(140) in which current arrives from the handpiece via the tissue of patient is connected in the generator.
