A mobile robot is provided to reduce backlash phenomenon and reduce the size of a connection structure for operating driving wheels. A mobile robot comprises a drive module(100) producing driving force, and an extension module(200). The extension module includes accessories selectively mounted thereon if necessary. The extension module is joined with the drive module by a mechanical connecting structure. The extension module is electrically connected to the drive module by an electrical connecting structure separately from the mechanical connecting structure. The extension module controls the drive module by transmitting a control signal to the drive module through the electrical connecting structure.
