<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal processing section and a radio that prevent polarity from being determined erroneously even if an IF carrier frequency deviates, and can perform diffusion modulation and reception data decoding appropriately. <P>SOLUTION: In the signal processing section and the radio, a diffusion modulation section 21 performs two-stage differential coding processing to synchronization words/REF data, performs diffusion modulation processing to transmission data by the inverted code of a diffusion code, performs diffusion modulation processing to data subjected to the differential coding processing by the normal code of the diffusion code to output the synchronization word/REF data diffusion modulation signal, and performs the diffusion modulation processing to the transmission data subjected to diffusion modulation processing by data subjected to differential coding processing to output a transmission data diffusion modulation signal.
