PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic imaging apparatus which performs contrast imaging using bubbles produced after breaking micro-balloons. SOLUTION: In this ultrasonic imaging apparatus, a first ultrasonic wave having sound pressure to break shells of micro-balloons in the micro balloon contrast medium is transmitted to a subject 4 into which a micro-balloon contrast medium is injected. A second ultrasonic wave is transmitted after the lapse of time from the transmission of the first ultrasonic wave and an image is generated on the basis of an echo to the second ultrasonic wave.
