<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foot controller for use in ophthalmic surgery. <P>SOLUTION: This foot controller 10 for use with ophthalmic surgical equipment has a door 18. The door covers a surgical switch 24 when the door is in a closed position, and the door is a shroud for the surgical switch 24 when the door is in an open position.
