PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent forest fires by sensing heat due to the slippage of a centrifugal clutch or a belt and stopping an engine when a rail travelling vehicle cannot travel. SOLUTION: This automatic engine stop device is provided for the rail travelling vehicle wherein a rail is mounted on a ground, a rack 12 is attached to the rail, and a driving wheel 14 gearing with the rack 12 is driven for travel by the centrifugal clutch and a pulley belt mechanism using an internal combustion engine 7 as a driving source. An internal contact type temperature sensor is mounted near the centrifugal clutch and/or the pulley belt mechanism for sensing heat due to the slippage of the centrifugal clutch and/or the pulley belt mechanism to cut off an engine ignition circuit when the travelling vehicle cannot travel with the existence of obstacles.
