PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera system for controlling a plurality of focus detection systems, and suitably controlling the drive of an image formation optical system according to the plurality of the focus detection systems. SOLUTION: This camera system includes a focus detection control means capable of controlling the plurality of the focus detection systems for the image formation optical system; and a drive control means for controlling the drive of the image formation optical system, wherein the focus detection control means transmits discrimination information designating which of the plurality of the focus detection systems is in the process of execution to the drive control means.
