METHOD FOR SUPPORTING PEER TO PEER COMMUNICATION IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A state transition method for the P2P communication is provided to offer a P2P connection efficiently by applying a P2P prior-activation state to a terminal which is in a de-activation mode. A terminal confirms whether its state is a mobile communication activation state for obtaining radio resources from the first media access control(MAC) layer, a P2P activation state for obtaining radio resources from the MAC layer, or a P2P prior-activation state for receiving a beacon message transmitted from the other terminal for the P2P communication(400). If the terminal confirms the P2P communication state(402), it maintains the P2P activation state until the P2P communication is terminated(404). When the terminal terminates the P2P communication, it maintains the P2P prior-activation state(412).
