<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting bladder cancer using the expression of an HURP (hepatoma up-regulated protein) gene as a marker. <P>SOLUTION: The HURP gene serves as a molecular marker in detection, preliminary screening and monitoring of the bladder cancer in a human subject. The method comprises detecting the bladder cancer, especially TCC (transitional cell carcinoma) of the bladder in the human subject. The expression of the human HURP gene detected in a sample collected from the subject suspected to have the bladder cancer is indicative of the presence of the bladder cancer. The detection of the expression of the human HURP gene is carried out by detecting an mRNA transcript of the human HURP gene in a biological sample using an RT-PCR (reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction) method, etc. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
