METHOD FOR PERFORMING RANGING PROCEDURE

A method for performing a ranging procedure is provided to enable a terminal to retry connection quickly by transmitting information about the collision between terminals to the terminal from a base station. A base station sends an RNG-RSP(Ranging Response) message including collision information to a terminal, in case contention occurs between terminals(S130). The terminal sends a ranging request message through a new ranging slot to the base station(S140). The base station transmits the ranging response message for informing the successful reception of a ranging code to the terminal(S145). The terminal continuously sends a CDMA code through the ranging request message to the base station, if the ranging state of the received ranging response message is 'continuity' state(S150). The terminal sends the ranging request message including its own unique identifier to the base station(S160). The base station transmits a ranging response message including the first management CID (Connection IDentifier)(S165). The terminal and base station exchange the unique keys(S175).
