#CMT# #/CMT# The system has an exhaust gas separation module (26) separating exhaust gas supplied with air that is depleted of oxygen to an internal combustion engine (10) i.e. oil engine, of a motor vehicle. A recirculation pipe (28) is connected to an exhaust line (12) and the module for recuperating a part of the gas from the engine and forming a purge flow inside the module to assure separation of oxygen molecules. The module has a membrane (32) made of cylindrical hollow fibers that are permeable to oxygen. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a method for depleting oxygen to purify exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# System for treating exhaust gas in an exhaust line of an internal combustion engine i.e. oil engine (claimed), of a motor vehicle. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The configuration of the system permits assisting of functioning of a particle filter mounted on the exhaust line of the engine during a purge phase, and permits reduction of an oxygen content in the air inside the engine, thus reducing emission of nitrogen oxide from the engine, and obtaining easy depletion of oxygen from the air supplied to combustion chambers of the engine at an outlet of the module in a simple, reliable, efficient and inexpensive manner.
