A currency handling device has a receiving chamber for receiving currencies and performs currency receiving processing for conveying supplied currencies to the receiving chamber and placing the currencies in the chamber. The currency handling device has limit amount setting means which sets the limit receiving amount for the receiving chamber, receiving limit determination means which, when the amount of currencies received in the receiving camber reaches the limit receiving amount set for the receiving chamber, determines that the receiving limit is reached, and currency reception stop means which stops currency receiving processing based on the result of the determination by the receiving limit determination means. The limit amount setting means has preset-content storage means for storing the limit receiving amount and performs the setting based on contents stored in the preset-content storage section. The contents of the setting can be changed by re-writing the stored contents. In the currency handling device, the limit receiving amount can be easily adjusted depending on situations without requiring replacement of a ROM and other procedures. |
