<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light guide that can emit uniform light over the whole region of one of a main surface that causes a light of a light guide to be emitted, and to provide a surface light emitting device. <P>SOLUTION: A surface light emitting device 1 includes; a light source 3 that emits light; and a light guide 2 for making a light emitted from the light source incident from a first side 5, for diffusing the light incident from the first side 5, and for emitting the light from a an exiting surface 8. The light guide 2 has a first prism 11 and a second prism 12 in an entrance region 10 where the light source 3 is provided opposite thereto, for changing a scattering angle of light emitted from the light source 3, and directing the changed light into the interior of the light guide 2. The second prism 12 has a larger scattering angle than that of the first prism 11; and a light directed into the interior of the light guide 2 through the first prism 11, and a light directed into the interior of the light guide 2 through the second prism 12 are superimposed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
