<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polypeptide causing various kinds of cell types (including a fat cell, a melanocyte and a primordial germ cell) by inducing differentiation of an embryonal stem cell and an adult stem cell, and a polynucleotide encoding the polypeptide, and to provide a medicament utilizing the polypeptide and the polynucleotide, and usable for treatment of bone/cartilage disease or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The stem cell growth factor-like polypeptide has a specific amino acid sequence. The isolated polynucleotide contains a base sequence selected from the group consisting of matured protein-encoding parts thereof.
