发明名称 Method and apparatus for preventing vibration of elongated drill in a drilling machine
摘要 871,475. Drilling-machines. R. K. LEBLOND MACHINE TOOL CO. Oct. 29, 1957 [Feb. 27, 1957], No. 33644/57. Class 83 (3). In drilling long holes, the drill-shank 24 is supported against vibration by a support 48, Fig. 2, adjacent the rotating work 18, and coolant fluid, e.g. cutting oil, is fed into the hole, along the outside of the drill, for clearing swarf through the bore of the drill. The work 18 is rotated by the machine-spindle 12, which is driven, as by belts, from an electric motor 16. A clamp 20 is pressed against the end of the work, as by an hydraulic cylinder (not shown). A seal 46 in a rotatable carrier 36 in bearings 38, 40 in the clamp bears against the rotating work, and guideways 22 on the machine-bed support the clamp 20 and the drill-head 26, which is fed by an hydraulic cylinder 28. Coolant is fed, through a pipe 30, to a chamber 42 in the clamp from which it passes along the drill into the hole. The clamp 20 also houses the support 48, which comprises a pair of shoes 54, Fig. 3, e.g. of Babbitt metal, pressed against the drillshank by the coolant, which is fed, from the chamber 42, into passages 52 carrying the shoes. Springs 56 move the shoes 54 away from the drill when the supply of coolant is interrupted. A telescopic pipe 31 conveys the coolant and swarf from the hollow drill-rod to a cyclone 32 and thence to a filter or setting tank from which the coolant is returned to the pressure side of the coolant system. In a modification (Fig. 6, not shown), three shoes are used and retained by spring clips.
