An automatic tool changer of a horizontal machining center is provided to produce at more low cost by precluding an additional process housing or ejecting a tool and thus simplifying its configuration. In an automatic tool changer of a horizontal machining center, a magazine(2) and a main shaft(3) are arranged to the axial direction. The main shaft onto which a finished tool is mounted, reaches a tool exchange position(14) and thus rotates the magazine. A tool housing(5) capable of housing a tool is arranged on the top of a main shaft and thus the main shaft moves, and releases a clamp device(13) of the main shaft by operating an unclamp cam(8) and housing a tool. The main shaft mounts a tool while advancing, in transferring the tool housing at the tool exchange position. A clamp of the main shaft is fastened by the unclamp cam.
