摘要 A method of generating brake force to decelerate a vehicle is disclosed. The vehicle includes an internal combustion engine 10 coupled to an input of a first electric energy device 12, the first electric energy device 12 having an output coupled to a transmission device 14 and a second electric energy conversion device 16 coupled downstream of the transmission device 14, the first and second electric energy conversion devices 12 and being connected to an electrical energy storage device such as a battery 20. The method includes during a deceleration condition, generating brake torque via the second electric energy conversion device 16 to generate electric energy storable in the battery 20 and rotating the internal combustion engine 10 via torque output from the first electric energy device 12 to deplete electric energy from the battery 20. The torque output from the first device 12 may be used to rotate the engine 10 to create pumping loss, depleting electrical energy from the battery.
