Composite sieve base made from rubberised flexible material and constructed from ready to instal pre-fabricated individual segments and fitted with a double screen. The individual segments forming the base of the sieve (1) have an edge formation providing an area for a connecting surface between each segment which is larger by a factor defined by the form and shape of the edge area than the connecting surface of an individual segment of the same size fitted with vertical smooth outer surfaces. The sieve base thus formed has the same size and the same or a greater area than a sieving base composed of individual segments with vertical smooth outer surfaces.
