1437642 Drilling holes in sheet glass ENGELHARD MINERALS & CHEMICALS CORP 16 May 1974 [17 May 1973] 21893/74 Heading B3C A drilling machine for simultaneously drilling a plurality of holes in a sheet of glass comprises a pair of opposed drilling assemblies B, only one assembly shown, between which a sheet 10 can be positioned, each assembly has a plurality of drills and all or all but one of the drills of each assembly is axially adjustable so that the tips of the drills may be positioned in a common plane parallel to the sheet. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 spindles 30, 31 are mounted by their casings 32 via adapter 41 and clamp 45 to slide 21. On clamp 45 there is a key 50 mounted on a vertically adjustable bolt and which fits into a slot 40 in the spindle casing 32. This arrangement allows for vertical positioning of the spindle. Fig. 8 shows apparatus for a grouping of 3 spindles. Operation of the apparatus is the same as for Specification 1,437,641. |
