1489145 Hydrolysing cellulose to watersoluble sugars BIO RESEARCH CENTER CO Ltd 28 Jan 1976 [28 April 1975 18 Sept 1975] 03224/76 Heading C2S [Also in Division C3] Water soluble sugars are obtained from cellulosic material, e.g. waste cellulose, in a process which comprises preparing an extracellular cellulolytic enzyme preparation, capable of degrading native cellulose, by cultivating in an aqueous nutrient medium, in the presence of a cellulosic material, a cellulolytic micro-organism, capable of elaborating such an enzyme, to obtain an aqueous culture mass containing the enzyme complex, and then hydrolysing a cellulosic substrate in the presence of the enzyme complex under enzymatic hydrolysis conditions to obtain the sugars in which the enzymatic hydrolysis is effected by the use of the aqueous culture mass produced in the enzyme preparation step without removal of any component thereof. The microorganism may be Trichoderma viride (e.g. Q.M.6a, ATCC 13,631; Q.M. 9123, ATCC 24,449 and Q.M.9414, ATCC 26,921) Trichoderma koningii (e.g. ATCC 26,921), Fusarium solani (e.g. ATCC 16,372) or Fusarium javanicum (e.g. ATCC 22,403). |
